Points on Wuji Standing

Qi is created everyday by the body. When food is eaten the body naturally converts this food in to qi. But because the body also uses qi to perform daily activities, qi is created and depleted on a one to one ratio. That is, food is eaten, energy is created. Work is done, energy is depleted. The object is to create more qi than the body uses and store it. How is this done? Through Qi Gong exercises such as Wuji Qi Gong.

Before standing
  • Wuji Qi Gong should Not be practiced on an empty stomach or a stuffed full stomach.
  • A peaceful area should be chosen to stand. Outside in the fresh air close to a large healthy tree is best.
  • Comfortable clothes should be worn.
  • Bathroom activites should be taken care of before the exercise.

    Points on standing.
  • The Wuji stance is formed with the feet parallel to each other and about shoulder width apart.
  • The knees are bent slightly. The knee joint is unlocked but not exaggerated.
  • The lower back is relaxed to allow the tailbone to drop. This will allow the lower spine to straighten.
  • The chin is slightly tucked inward.
  • The mouth is closed with the tongue softly resting on the roof of the mouth.
  • The arms and hands are relaxed comfortably by the sides of the body.
  • COMPLETE RELAXATION. This is very important.
  • The attention of the mind is placed on the Wuji point. This point is between the navel and the back in the middle of the body. All the muscles in the body are relaxed to allow the blood to flow wherever it wishes. No constrictions. The whole body is relaxed. When inhaling, the abdomen is slightly expanded in a relaxed manner.. Not forceful. When exhaling, the abdomen is allowed to relax.

Periods of practice can be from 5 or 10 minutes up to 1 hour or more.

After practice. The two hands are placed together and rubbed vigorously. The palms are placed over the kidneys and the body is gently shaken up and down (the body is shaken, not the hands). Using the palms, the legs are patted down the back side (yang) and up the front side (yin) several times. Again the hands are rubbed together and the face is "washed" with qi by starting at the chin and moving up the face to the forehead area, around the sides of the head by the ears and down to the throat. This is performed several times. Gentle stretching can also be performed. The object is not to have any stagnation of qi and blood.

Benefits of Wuji Practice. The first and foremost benefit of this exercise is health. By consistantly practicing over a period of time, radiant health can be achieved. All the meridians in the body will open and the practicioner will have a peaceful warmth about themselves.
