The Universe Of Heaven

"The visible and the invisible worlds are in close contact."

The location of heaven has ever intrigued scholars of mien. It is commonly thought to be located somewhere out in the vast reaches of space toward the direction of Orion, far out beyond our own galaxy. If so, this would place heaven hundreds of light years distant from earth, one light year being some six trillion miles. Now this theory is fine except that it poses a communication problem between heaven and earth. Since we know that the godhead is intensely interested in events here on earth during the playing out of the Great Controversy and personally involved in the Plan of Salvation, how do we resolve this communication dilemma?

We have several options:
  1. We can totally avoid the problem by simply saying that God can do anything; that He can hear us pray and answer instantaneously by some mysterious way through space; after all, God is omnipresent, isn't He?
  2. We can realize that the godhead is composed of three individuals, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit:

    God the Father sits on His throne in heaven ordering that which He thinks best, and He is omnipresent by His Spirit (Ministry of Healing, p 417);
    God the Son is at the right hand of the Father limited in time and space by His humanity;
    the Holy Spirit has been sent to this earth in the place of Christ to conduct the Great Controversy (Desire of Ages, p 352).

    This seems to picture local control. But, we are also told that the angels are the only means of communication between heaven and earth (Desire of Ages, p 143). There are a number of accounts in Scripture of holy beings travelling between heaven and earth in a matter of days or even minutes. Then these messenger angels must travel at tremendous, super-light speed. So we still have a communication problem.

  3. Many avant-garde scientists feel that there is credible scientific evidence to support the theory of parallel universes. The concept of matter-antimatter and other sub-atomic phenomena suggests this possibility. Such a parallel universe would be invisible to us, and, if it were possible to bridge the gap and cross from one to another, it would explain the sudden appearance and disappearance of holy beings in Scripture. Also, inter-dimensional transfer would make possible teleportation and travel through time and space.

Conclusion:
"How can we but see how closely the universe of heaven is connected with this fallen world!" Perhaps we are closer than we think to the universe of heaven.
