Pope John Paul II is dead. and all the world mourns and weeps and wonders. Millions pray for his immortal soul's entry through the gates of heaven where he will find rest in the arms of the Virgin Mary. He is being extolled as a man of peace, a man of the people, the one mainly responsible for the fall of communism. He was worshiped as the direct descendent of the Apostle Peter, the head of Christ's church on earth, the embodiment of God Himself. At his voice kings and rulers trembled. At his command armies marched. He was both king and high priest of a world-wide religio-political empire. He presided over a cadre of priests who daily conducted mass, which is the earthly substitute for the true service in the heavenly sanctuary. This earthly substitute has been called "the abomination of desolation." He and his priesthood claimed to be the intercessors between God and man, thus abrogating the position of Christ as the only mediator between God and man. They have sought to wrest the golden scepter from Christ's hand.
The hands of his predecessors were red with the blood of the martyrs. Their minions drove God's people into the caves of the mountains and into the wilderness. Their persecutions launched a thousand ships to a new world of freedom from papal persecution. But, you may say, John Paul was different. He was kind, he was peaceable, he was thoughtful of human rights. However, these attributes only served to further the popularity and power of his dominion. The objectives of the papacy have not changed over centuries. Its aim is still that of all the four beasts before it, that of world domination through religious persecution and political power. The papacy. as represented by the little horn of Daniel, chapter seven, is the only religious organization that owns its own territory, that passes its own laws, that prints its own money, that issues its own stamps, that has its own army, and receives ambassadors from other nations. It is the ultimate amalgamation of church and state, the antichrist that exalts itself above the most High, and has even changed God's law.
The Holy Scriptures reveal that the papal power will continue to increase in power and influence so that it will require small and great, rich and poor to worship it. Through dark, deceitful machinations it will cause the United States to abrogate every principle of liberty found in its constitution so that it will speak with a dragon voice, and receive its mark. We do not know who the next Pope will be, but one can be sure that he will carry forward this grand scheme of world domination. "He will plant his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain, but he shall come to his end, and none can help him" (Dan. 11:45). He, and all his predecessors, will be cast into the lake of fire prepared for Satan and his angels. Thus ends the "requiem for a dead Pope."
