EXTERNAL STUDIES

The External Studies division of Fresno Missionary Baptist Institute was created for the serious Bible student who cannot attend traditional Bible College classes. Lay ministers, deacons, Sunday school teachers, new converts and those interested in increasing their knowledge of the Bible are encouraged to enroll in External Studies classes.

REQUIREMENTS

In addition to reading assignments, the student will be tested at regular intervals. For each three units (hours) of credit, the student will have five multiple- choice tests and a comprehensive final examination. The External Studies Program was developed from the premise that any work completed by correspondence must be equivalent to study completed in the classroom. Through the use of a writing project in each class, the student should be introduced to ideas other than those found in the textbook. This in part will replace materials not gained through the benefit of a classroom discussion. A written project of at least than five double spaced, typewritten pages for each three units (hours) of credit will be required.

PACED WORK

The student may work at his or her own pace and in the privacy of his or her own home. There is no minimum time requirement for completion of a subject. The maximum time limit is nine months from the date of enrollment in the subject. There should be no difficulty for the average student in fulfilling the latter requirement

CERTIFICATE

Upon completion of this program with an accumulative grade point average of 2.5 or better, and upon the recommendation of the faculty of FMBI the student shall be awarded the Certificate of Bible Studies.

COSTS

The tuition for each course is $70.00 (six unit hours) of study. The student will be required to supply his or her own textbooks. In the event a student does not have access to the required texts, they may be ordered from the FMBI bookstore. All tuition will be paid at the time of enrollment.
