Rules and regulations: Students are expected to familiarize themselves with all rules and regulations in the school catalog. On occasion, official announcements will be made during chapel services and posted on the bulletin board.

Class changes: No student will be permitted to make a class change after a period of two weeks from the start of the semester. A student may transfer within the two-week period upon making satisfactory arrangements with his instructor and upon approval of the Dean.

CREDIT TRANSFER

Credit from other institutions of learning are accepted at the discretion of the President and Dean and on their merit. Full credit for courses taken in other schools in the American Baptist Association will be given for subjects which parallel those required in the curriculum of FMBI.

As in many states, the Board of Education of California is not authorized to accredit theological schools; the credit value of the work done in this school is determined by merit. Advanced schools may or may not recognize such credits as applied to their courses. No transcript of credits will be issued without liquidation of all accounts.

DISMISSALS

FMBI reserves the right to reject any applicant for any reason it deems justifiable. Also reserved is the right to dismiss from the school any student who refuses to cooperate with the faculty, one whose conduct is unchristian, or one whose life is not what the world would expect in the life of a Christian.

ATTENDANCE POLICY

Students are expected to attend all meetings of all classes in which they are enrolled. All lectures given by the faculty or visiting lecture staff are considered a part of the student's training-, therefore, the student shall be required to attend and take notes of such lectures. At least 80% attendance is required to obtain credit in any given course.

Local and State Associational meetings are considered a part of the student's training. Attendance of other meetings, which might fall during scheduled school days, should first be cleared through the Dean's office in order that proper credit might be given. Instructors are required to report excessive absences to the Dean. Absences will be considered when determining grades.

ABSENCES

Absences allowed on a three-day schedule (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday) are a total of six days per semester. In case of emergency a student may be absent up to six additional days. The instructor is required to assign makeup work for all absences. No credit will be given for more than twelve days of absence per semester on a three-day schedule.

Courses are subject to being interrupted when absences become excessive. Such courses will need to be repeated for proper credit.

Absences due to funerals, revivals and other activities will be treated under the above guidelines.

Out-of-class activities for which the student is counted present must be with the permission of the President and Dean of the school.

TARDIES

Three tardies will count as one absence. Late arrivals to class or early withdrawals from class for valid reasons must be with the expressed permission of the instructor.

GRADING SYSTEM

Each instructor shall evaluate the progress of the student by the following grading system:

A 95-100 Superior 4 grade points
B 86-94 Above Average 3 grade points
C 76-85 Average 2 grade points
D 70-75 Passing I grade point
I   Incomplete
W   Withdrawal

EXAMINATIONS

Examinations are given at stated times and at the election of the faculty. Some instructors may choose to issue grades solely on the basis of notebooks. In other courses a set time may be determined for written tests. All work assigned by the instructor is due on the date specified; any extended time is at the discretion of the teacher. Each instructor will seek to see that every student has sufficient opportunity to make good in his class.

STUDENT CLASSIFICATION

Students will be classified according to the number of hours they complete.

0-30 Freshman
31-60 Sophomore
61-90 Junior
91-120 Senior

INCOMPLETE

A student may request an incomplete grade. An incomplete is given only as a result of special counseling between the student and the teacher, and only when unforeseen circumstances (e.g., sickness) make it warranted. An incomplete grade is intended for those students who are doing satisfactory work, but are unable to complete the work because of extraordinary circumstances. Neglect on the part of the student to complete his work the next time the semester course is offered will result in a failure.

WITHDRAWAL

A student may withdraw from class with permission of the instructor and the Dean up to the 6th week of school and receive a "W" grade for this class. Proper forms are provided for this procedure. Failure to withdraw properly will result in a failing grade for that subject.
